Pakke-Bameng-Chayangtajo road disrupted
ITANAGAR, Sep 22: Eight kilometer stretch of the Pakke-Bameng road has been badly disrupted by the heavy rain fall and landslide on Sept 20. Three major landslides have occurred washing away portions of the road.
Two excavators have been hired and pressed into service but road could not be cleared. ADC T Messar informed that road will not be clear for the next few days for vehicular movement.
Local Administration and Bameng Town Peoples Forum have expressed the hope that govt will step in soon to help restore the Road.
Meanwhile, as per the report received from the ADC and the AE (PWD) Chayangtajo, several places between Seppa to Chayangtajo sub-division are damaged and blocked due to heavy landslide and mudslide.
Severely affected is the Marjingla area where some portions of the road have been washed off completely.
After receiving the report, East Kameng DC Rajeev Takuk sanctioned Rs. 3 lakh from the disaster management fund to the PWD Chayangtajo division for early restoration of the road communication. He has also released additional quota of rice from buffer stock to mitigate likely shortfall of food grains in Chayangtajo sub-division. Besides PWD, the Gammon India Ltd. has been pressed into the service.
He conducted an emergency meeting with the concerned departments.
Villagers to repair road on self-help basis

ITANAGAR, Sep 22: Sending a strong message to the policymakers, residents of three villages in West Siang district have decided to repair a five-kilometre stretch of dilapidated road by pooling in resources on their own.
Under the aegis of the Kugi Ao Welfare Society (KAWS), villagers of Kugi Pomte, Kugi Pomse, and Gune Bane in a meeting recently decided to join hands and repair the road from the Pobdi tri-junction to Kugi Pomte and Kugi Pomse.
The road had been constructed by the RWD, under the PMGSY. The work began in 2007 and was completed in 2013, after much controversy, at an estimated cost of Rs 2 crores.
Three years down the line, the road is now in a deplorable condition. The entire stretch is dotted with potholes, and in the absence of proper drains, rainwater has washed away the black topping.
The condition of the road has caused several accidents, while landslides keep occurring during the rainy season in a few locations along the road, making commuting dangerous.
Most of the leftover fund, which was meant to be used to carry out maintenance work on the road for five years, has been used up, and the department is now left with only Rs 3.40 lakhs. This has left the villagers with no option but to take it upon themselves to do something about the road.
Meanwhile, the maintenance fund will lapse by November 2016, if it is not used.
"We have decided to repair the road by ourselves with the maintenance fund available with the department," KAWS assistant general secretary Gumjum Ete said. "The villagers are irked by the road's pathetic condition and the apathy shown by the RWD and the contractor."
Ete disclosed that the KAWS and the panchayat leaders of these villages had submitted a plea to the department for maintenance of the road. However, the department absolved itself saying that maintaining the road was the contractor's job.
"The road has been left to decay for the past two years," said Gune Bane HGB Tojo Ete. He expressed fear that if the road is left as it is, it might not only damage vehicles but also cause more accidents.
"We have decided to repair the road because we have lost faith in the administration and its agencies," said a student leader from the area.
Interestingly, residents of Yigi-Kaum, who also share the road from the Pobdi trijunction to Giite Geeko, 2 kms off Kugi, are also keen to join in the repair work.
"We are receiving overwhelming response from the people," Gumjum said, and informed that the KAWS had in any case planned to appeal to the villagers of Yigi-Kaum for help.
Awed by the response, Gumjum said the repair work will start in the first week of October and will be completed before the maintenance fund lapses.
The maintenance fund available with the department will be used for carrying gravels and sandstones, and the villagers will work as labourers for free.
State will identify site for AYUSH college
ITANAGAR, Sep 22: Chief Minister Pema Khandu has assured site identification for a proposed college of Ayurveda under the Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) in the state without delay.
Expressing gratitude to Advisor AYUSH Dr D C Katoch who called on him here at his offices on Thursday, for the keen interest expressed by the Ministry to establish a college in the state, Pema said the state government is always willing to extend cooperation for every developmental project beneficial to the state.
He advised Health Minister Jomde Kena and Parliamentary Secretary PhurpaTsering, who were also present during the discussion, to hold an internal meeting of the department and suggest a suitable location for establishment of the college immediately.
"Site should be selected keeping in mind every aspect of physical and logistical aspects of the project besides keeping scope for future expansion," the Chief Minister advised.
At present, there is only one government-run Ayurveda college in the North East at Guwahati, Assam.
When informed that the Union Ministry has already kept budgetary provisions for establishment of the said college and is awaiting submission of DPR by the state government, the Chief Minister emphasized on urgency to expedite the site selection process that would enable the concerned department to formulate a DPR.
Dr Katoch gave details of the Ministry and its activities to the Chief Minister and suggested scopes for cooperation in extending activities like manufacturing of alternate medicines within the state owing to its rich natural resources.
On behalf of the Ministry, he also offered to deploy a team of experts to extensively survey the state to identify trees, plants, herbs, etc of medicinal value that can be utilized for manufacturing of alternate medicines.
Khandu welcomed the suggestion citing that it would offer self-employment to local villagers as well who can take up commercial cultivation of medicinal plants and herbs.
He requested Dr Katoch to guide the state government and assured that the state government will extend full cooperation to AYUSH for all its endeavours in the state.
State Government officials of Health Services, who accompanied the visiting Advisor, requested the Chief Minister for creation of a separate directorate for AYUSH.
"As AYUSH is under the same department of health services, its actual use and benefits are not reaching to the people due to administrative complicacies," they informed.
Heeding to the request, the Chief Minister asked the Minister in-charge to process for the same on file so that it can be discussed in the next cabinet meeting.
Byaling asks staff to work earnestly
ITANAGAR, Sep 22: Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister, Tanga Byaling has called on the officers and officials of both the departments to work with sincerity and zeal for better development of the state. He was addressing the joint Coordination Meeting of both the departments that was attended by newly inducted Parliamentary Secretary RD & Panchayat Mama Natung and Commissioner, Indra Mallo at SIRD Conference Hall here on Thursday.
Byaling sought collective effort from the officers and staff to achieve the goal for the welfare of grass root people. He further hoped Parliamentary Secretary Mama Natung will assist him well to carry forward the development activities.
Highlighting the importance of both RD and Panchayat departments in overall development of the state, Natung in his address said, no development is possible without grass root level development. "Development should begin from grass root level and rural areas. We should take the development at people's doorsteps in rural area" he added. He also urged the officers to adopt a mechanism to educate the village people about the Govt schemes so that they reap the maximum benefit out the Govt schemes and projects.
Urging the officers to be sincere in their works, Parliamentary Secretary stated that transparency should be maintained while discharging the duty. " We should work collectively as Team Arunachal, to carry forward the developments" Natung added seeking cooperation and guidance from each staff and officers.
He further assured that he and along with Minister would take up the issues raised by the staffs including the fund with Chief Minister and the Center.
Indra Mallo informed both Minister and Parliamentary Secretary about the fund problems that the departments are facing. The Commissioner also briefed about delay in releasing fund and expressed hope that fund problem will be solved with the initiative of the Minister and Parliamentary secretary. Director Panchayat and SIRD B.J Duia and Chief Executive Officer cum SMD ArSRLM T. Siga also spoke on the occasion.
Pema lays foundation of Badminton Academy
ITANAGAR, Sep 22: Badminton in Arunachal Pradesh received a major boost, when Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday laid the foundation stone of a Badminton Academy named after his late father and former chief minister Dorjee Khandu near Six Mile between Itanagar and Naharlagun.
The academy to be housed in a state-of-art facility with modern amenities, including swimming pool, will have eight courts.
"It is a historic moment for our state," Pema said after unveiling the foundation stone.
Emphasizing on the importance of games and sports, Pema said his government would take forward and provide all necessary facilities for promising young talents.
Pema assured that his government will make every possible effort to complete the Academy within a very short period of time.
The land has been donated by former minister Tatar Kipa.
The foundation stone has been laid barely two months after Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA) placed the demand before the chief minister.
President of ASBA Ratu Techi and Secretary Bamang Tago informed Pema that many badminton players of the state are performing well at national and international level tournaments, but lamented that there was no proper infrastructure and coaching facilities in the state to nurture the young talents.
Badminton Association of India (BAI) Secretary Karanam Chenchu Punnaiah Choudary, who was also present, lauded the initiative of the state government.
He was of the belief that Arunachal could produce shuttlers of international repute if the young talents are properly honed.
"They have skill, ability, agility and muscle power but lack techniques," the BAI Secretary said.
He advised players to practice hard.
"A badminton player should practice at least 8 hours daily," he said, and advised the state government to hire coaches to train the players, if possible.
He cited the example of Laa Talar, who is currently training outside the state as there is no proper facility in Arunachal.
He also suggested the state government to concentrate more on those sports disciplines where it can excel.
Choudary assured BAI's all support to ASBA for development of Badminton in Arunachal.
A host of law makers, chief secretary, secretary (sports), officials of sports, youths affairs departments, Sports Authority of Arunachal, ASBA president, secretary were present on the occasion.
Work for the people: Minister
ITANAGAR, Sep 22: While assuring all possible help from the government for the welfare of the people, Health Minister Jomde Kena directed the officers of the department to work with sincerity for the betterment of the people of the state. He was addressing the Director of Health Services, Managing Director (NRHM) and other senior officers of the H&FW department during a meeting held here on Thursday.
The Minister also lauded the e-tendering system for purchasing of medicines and other instruments.
Kena also inquired about all the ongoing schemes including, establishment of Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (Medical College) in the state, repairing and renovation of district hospitals at various districts, rationalization of transfer and posting of medical staff, para medical staff in different remote areas, disposal of medical store from central store to district hospital, immediate deployment of doctors team to epidemic affected areas and effective implementation of pulse polio immunization programme etc.
Parliamentary Secretary for Health & Family Welfare (H&FW), Phurpa Tsering has emphasized the need for establishment of medical college in the state along with acquiring sufficient number of ambulance for an effective health delivery system.
All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament starts
ITANAGAR, Sept 22: Chief Minister Pema Khandu declared open the final rounds of the first Dorjee Khandu All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2016 here at Raj Bhawan Badminton Indoor Stadium on Thursday.
The tournament organised by Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA) under the aegis of Badminton Association of India (BAI) saw 278 players participate in the qualifying rounds that concluded on Wednesday. About 500 players from all over the country representing their respective states will be participating in the 6-day event.
Earlier, the Chief Minister paid tribute to late Dorjee Khandu, former Chief Minister of Arunachal by offering of flowers to his portrait and by lighting lamps.
Chief Minister said that this is the first ever state's own sports event of national level being organized. He congratulated BAI and appreciated its support in holding the event despite the state lacking adequate facilities and infrastructures.
"Our country is performing well in sports and excelling especially in badminton. In Rio Olympics, our young player PV Sindhu brought laurels for the country by winning the silver medal. Also our SainaNehwal has already carved a name for herself in badminton," said Khandu.
Acknowledging the growth of young sporting talents of North East in badminton, the Chief Minister assured that there will be no dearth of support from the state government.
"I want to assure our badminton lovers that state government will do its best to encourage sports in the state," he said.
On measures being taken by the state government for promotion of sports, Khandu informed that the state will soon have a badminton academy.
In order to provide job security to sportspersons, he informed that state government has mandated 10% job reservation in all government departments. He also spoke on the advantage of playing sports that contributes to good health and inculcates sense of discipline among the citizens.
The Chief Minister conveyed his best wishes to all the players participating in the tournament.
Earlier, BAI Secretary (events) K. Ch. Punnaiah Choudary also spoke on the occasion besides President ASBA Rotu Techi, Hony Secretary Bamang Tago and Vice President Tame Phassang.
The inaugural event was attended by Parliamentary Secretaries Nyamar Karbak, Bamang Felix, Dikto Yekar, Markio Tado, Jambey Tashi, Arunachal Olympic Association President Padi Richo and Sports & Youth Affairs Secretary Dani Salu.
Later in the day, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of Dorjee Khandu Badminton Academy at 6 mile near Sannggo Resort along the Itanagar - Naharlagun Highway. Ministers Tanga Byaling, Nabam Rebia and Honchum Ngandam, Parliamentary Secretaries Karya Bagang and Tapuk Taku and the Chief Secretary also joined the foundation stone laying ceremony.
Talar, Pinki-Yanya advance to 2nd round
ITANAGAR, Sep 22: Arunachal Pradesh began its Dorjee Khandu All India Senior Ranking Tournament, 2016 campaign on a winning with state's top shuttler Talar Laa registering a crushing victory over Assam's Rajdeep Sarmah in Men's Single.
Talar, seeded 9th in the tournament beat Rajdeep in straight 21-5, 21-6 set in a packed MLA Cottage Badminton Hall here this afternoon.
The pair of Pinki Karki and Taring Yanya of Arunachal also advanced to second round defeating Saumya Singh S. and Mayuri Yadav of Uttar Pradesh in straight 21-15 21-12 sets in Women's Doubles.
New Market for Pasighat under process: Pema
ITANAGAR, Sep 22: Chief Minister Pema Khandu has issued directives to PCCF and Principal Secretary Environment and Forest, Government of Arunachal Pradesh to expedite the process of giving clearance for 30 hectares of land at Pasighat for construction of New Market at Green Belt area.
During his recent visit to Pasighat, Pema had announced to establish Pasighat new market to cater to the needs of emerging population and unemployed youths of the society.
As such, a delegation led by Pasighat MLA Kaling Moyong including Obang Dai, Osing Mengu, Abi Moyong, OkepYomso and Oyem Dai and Mongol Gao, General Secretary Bogong Banggo Kebang called upon the CM on Thursday and formally submitted a memorandum in this regard. The delegation also informed the CM that the Bogong Banggo Kebang has donated 30 acres of land for the new market and sought his support in getting clearances from the Forest department and district administration.
Giving a patient hearing, the Chief Minister instructed the Chief Engineer cum Director Urban Development to immediately make project proposal for approval by the state government.
He also directed East Siang Deputy Commissioner to conduct a joint survey of the proposed area for expediting construction of the proposed new market. Khandu also spoke to PCCF and requested him to do expedite the process of giving forest clearances for the proposed site to pave way for its development.
Electrify border areas: Thangwang
ITANAGAR, Sep 22: Parliamentary Secretary Power (Elect), Thangwang Wangham called upon the department of Power to concentrate on border areas where many villages are yet to get electricity. He said this while addressing the officers and staff of the department at Vidyut Bhawan here on Thursday.
Wangham appealed the officers to work as a team and cooperate with each other to carry the department forward.
'We will carry the department forward with whatever resources it already has' said Wangham who represents 59-Longding Pumao in the state Legislative Assembly. Underscoring the importance of electricity in the present day, he said that in the contemporary world we cannot imagine a life without electricity which is sine-qua non for the progress of any area.
Further, he exhorted the officers to inculcate work culture among the subordinate staff of the department and asked them to maintain strict discipline in the office.
Chief Engineer, Eastern Electrical Zone, O Moyong, on behalf of the department further briefed the Parliamentary Secretary about the status of the department.
The Parliamentary Secretary on his part also gave his assurance to extend all possible help to the department.
Association apprehends drug peddlers
NAMSAI, Sep 22: The Youth Association of Manna Entenand& Enthem (YAMEE) has reportedly apprehended two drug peddlers from at Enthem village under Namsai Police station.
The two alleged drug peddlers have been identified as Subash Kanti Chakma and Arun Bihari Chakma of Dumpathar-III (Udaipur) Changlang District. While Punseng Manpoong and Chow Nachatey Choumoung of Enten village managed to escape from the spot.
The association claimed that it recovered 23.45 gm of brown sugar along with cash amounting to Rs 5000 and an ATM card issued in the name of Chow Punseng Manpoong from their possession.
A case has been lodged by the youth association at Namsai Police Station. They have demanded for immediate arrest of the absconding persons and sought rigorous imprisonment for the duos.
It is to be noted that YAMEE was formed with a plan to fight and eradicate the drug menace plaguing the society and encourage the youths and students to join the campaign against drugs. Of late, Namsai, Changlang and some neighboring districts are caught in the vicious circle of drug abuse and the numbers of drug addicts are increasing day by day.
Teachers and staffs booked
ITANAGAR, Sep 22: Thirteen teachers and eleven part time teachers working under SSA have been booked under 'No work No pay' policy in Kurung Kumey district for absenteeism. The strict action was initiated after Deputy Director School Education-cum-DPO SSA along with district and block officials of Education department made an unannounced visit to the schools.
Apart from the teachers, absentee staffs including a BRCC and a CRCC, a residential hostel warden, a BRC Accountant, a DEO and 2 coordinators have also been booked by the department, a release informed.
Thongdok fetches another award
ITANAGAR, Sep 22: The Nest, a film by Sange Dorjee Thongdok has won the best north east film 2016 at the 4th Woodpecker film festival. This is Thongdok's second award winning venture after the Crossing Bridges which fetched him a national award.

CM appoints advisors
ITANAGAR, Sep 22: Former deputy Chief Minister Kameng Dolo has been appointed as principal advisor of the Chief Minister Pema Khandu. Former ministers Wanglin Lowangdong and Lombo Tayeng has been made advisor to CM. As per the notification issued by Chief Secretary on 21st September the above advisors will have status of cabinet minister with all the perks and facilities entitled.
DDK to partner ZFM
NEW DELHI, Sep 22: Doordarshan will be the media partner of Ziro Festival of Music (ZFM) which starts from Thursday onward. ZFM is a four-day festival and is supported by Department of tourism, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh and Ministry of Development of North East region (DoNER), Govt of India. The festival will close on 25th September.
Director General, Doordarshan Supriya Sahu has informed that this is the first time that DD is associating with this unique festival and this is part of strengthening the activities of DD in the North East region.
Doordarshan Kendra, Itanagar (Arunachal) and PPC (NE), Doordarshan, Guwahati will provide intensive coverage of the entire festival and will telecast it in DD-National, DD-Bharati, DD-India, DD-North East and Doordarshan Kendra Itanagar. DD-News will also provide the news coverage to the festival.
DG said that as public service broadcaster Doordarshan hopes that this will promote local tourism at Ziro Valley of Arunachal Pradesh through its national telecast. The festival which began in 2012 attracts a large numbers of tourists to Arunachal Pradesh.
Arunachal at Tourism Investors’ Summit

ITANAGAR, Sept 22: Young Generation FC defeated Bosco United FC by 6-0 goal in the 12th day of Vishwakarma Football Trophy being held at KV No 2 playground here on Thursday. Damin Ruru scored 3 goals, while Gichik Pole and Tsering Sarpa scored two and one goal respectively for Young Generation FC.
In the second match played between Borum FC and AU FC, the former defeated the latter by 4-2. Scorers for Borum FC were --Tana Tama (2 goals) and Taw Tagum (2 goal), while Adam Rimo and Kage Dodum were the scorers for AU FC.

Association seeks land acquisition, compensation for TAH project
ITANAGAR, Sep 22: The All Arunachal Pradesh Trans-Arunachal Highway Welfare Association (AAPTAHWA) has submitted representation to Chief Secretary Shakuntala D Gamlin for immediate completion of land acquisition and compensation of various Trans Arunachal Highway projects.
Stating that agency is all set to start the construction of Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH) project, AAPTAHWA informed that due to non completion of land acquisition and compensation, the project is being delayed for many months.
Disclosing that process of land acquisition and compensation for widening of existing road from Potin to Pangin via Yachuli, Ziro, Daporijo and Aalo, which have total length of 407 Km is yet to start, AAPTAHWA further appealed state government to immediately compensate the land affected people as per the government's rate.
The president AAPTAHWA, Papu Tayem said that in most of ongoing works site of TAH especially Hoj to Nichipu and Bomdila, filling and dumping of soil has not been done properly which has resulted in soil erosion, landslides and blocking of rivers and streams whereas in the MoU, it is clearly written that the cutting, filling and dumping of soil will be done as per the Muck disposal plan.
Union urges DDSE to inspect schools regularly
ITANAGAR, Sep 22: The All Kra Daadi District Students Union (AKDDSU) has appealed to the DDSE to inspect the Govt. Middle School, Hinda under Palin circle, which was damaged during recent heavy rainfall, on a regular basis.
The members of the Union led by its president, Gora Rikam Bhai along with Kra Daadi, Deputy Director of School Education, Biri Son had earlier visited the school.
'All the furniture and school equipments have been totally damaged by flood', the Union claimed. It further apprised the DDSE about the problems being faced by the school authority including encroachment of school land by the locals.
The DDSE, on his part assured the school authority to take up the matter with Deputy Commissioner for early release of relief fund to renovate the school building. He also assured to discuss the issue of land encroachment with the DC.
On the occasion, the school authority and students also conducted a social service to clean up the mud brought in by floodwaters near the school campus.
Hindi Diwas concludes
ITANAGAR, Sept 22: The week long 'Hindi Saptah' concluded at VKV here on Friday with cultural programmes. About 300 students and 20 teachers attended the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, State Liaison Officer, NSS, Dr VN Sharma advised the students to develop right attitude towards Hindi, as a language of national integration.
"Arunachal is the only north eastern state where Hindi has become the common man's language. To understand Arunachal everyone should know Arunachali Hindi," he said. He remembered all the teachers who served in the interior schools of the state since 1947 for spreading Hindi language in the nook and corner of the state.
Principal VKV K Jaisankar, Senior Teacher of Hindi Dr. Kakade Rajendra Chhagan and Dr. Shiva Prasad Mishra also spoke on the occasion.
Parliamentarians visit Chhattisgarh
ITANAGAR, Sep 22: A Parliamentarians' Group on Children (PGC) led by Lok Sabha Member, Ninong Ering visited rural areas in Chhattisgarh Raipur and Bilaspur from Sep 20 to 22 last to observe and evaluate the issue of tribal malnutrition in India.
The team comprising of MPs Hussain Dalwai, Heena Gavit and Chayya Verma is working in coordination with UNICEF to understand the basic policy intervention and to raise the issue in Parliament.
Impressed with the Swasthya Sahyog (JSS) Model as implemented in Bilaspur, Ering further pledged to replicate the same model in Arunachal to address the issue of health, malnutrition, sanitation and sustainable agriculture.
Bailey bridge launched at Lumla
ITANAGAR, Sep 22: The 117 RCC under 763 Border Roads Task Force (Khirmu) launched a 120 Ft semi permanent Bailey bridge at Mangnam Zero Point, a slide zone in Lumla sub-division. 117 RCC was able to execute this task with its available strength of GREF personnel, locally available labourers and cooperation from administration and police in traffic regulation.
Lt. Colonel Prerit Rawat of 117 RCC informed that bridge was launched in a single day. The launch of the said bridge is expected to immensely benefit people of Lumla town which is often ravaged by the rain. DIPRO

ZIRO, Sept 22: Government Higher Secondary School, Hija (GHSSH) is all ready to represent the state at the Subroto Cup International Football Tournament to be held in first week of October, New Delhi.
Kago Ajam (team captain), Buru Mudo, Tage Buda, Padi Millo, Nada Tari, Chiging Laling, Tage Tago, Yachang Kani, Dulley Tatung, Tage Apang, Dani Tang, Koj Aka, Nada Tamo, Tailyang Tai, Tage Kojee and Habung Chilyang are the players while Pura Taji and Pura Tallo are team manager and coach respectively.
At an event at the school on Wednesday, the players were provided with sports kits.
Principal Millo Gyut stressed on importance of fair play in a tournament.
Chairman School Managing Committee, Nada Laji appealed the players to exhibit team spirit and discipline.
Contractor seeks release of payment
ITANAGAR, Sep 22: A group of contractors have written to Chief Minister claiming that they had carried out work for construction of side drain along national highway near Papu Nallah last year but have not been paid. They alleged that they have not been paid for the work done and have appealed to the CM to release payment within this month. They have warned that if the pending bill is not cleared, national highway will be blocked.
Disaster related cases settled
ITANAGAR, Sept 22: The Papum Pare District Disaster Management authority in its executive meeting at DC's Conference Hall, Yupia on Thursday held a threadbare discussion on various disaster related cases including fire accident, flood and landslide damage and horticulture field damage and loss of livestock received from various circles of the district.
After threadbare discussion, the meeting presided over by Deputy Commissioner Tai Kaye disposed off the cases and approved fund.
All the district executive members were present in the meeting. DIPRO
Contempt petition filed
ITANAGAR, Sept 22: A contempt petition has been filed against Commissioner and Director of Rural Development by its Joint Director (JD) Kampu Dolo for non-compliance of High Court order here on Thursday. Dolo argues that since his repatriation from JD to BDO has been stayed by Gauhati High Court on February 2 last, the advertisement seeking to fill the post violates the existing RR.
The department has advertised the post of joint director to be filled up by deputation.
Conduct DPC, Union demands
ITANAGAR, Sept 22: Claiming that vacant posts of 2 LDCs and a driver are being filled up illegally in the Department of Industries, the All Arunachal Pradesh Workers' Union (AAPWU) has demanded for immediate conduct of DPC so that senior most contingency staffs can avail the chance to fill up the posts. They have written to Director Industries in this regard.
24 hours bandh
ITANAGAR, Sept 22: Protesting inaction, the All Mishing Students' Union has called for a 24 hours bandh on Friday 5 AM onwards in all the Mishing inhabited areas.
The union has been demanding release of arrested students from Mahadevpur Police Station since Sept 11 last and punishment to drug peddler Kunu Mili.
Check illegal fishing
AALO, Sept 22: The West Siang District Socio culture and economic Development society has urged the district administration to strictly check all kinds of illegal Fishing in Yomgo River and its tributaries. It is learnt that the people of nearby area are using explosives materials and Gill netting in river, they said while adding Police personnel, HGBs and GBs of the area needs to be alerted to check the random fishing.
The Member Sectary Arunachal Pradesh Biodiversity Board had also written a letter to district administration regarding the need for conservation of the fishes.

Orgs seek stadium
Aalo, Sept 22: Various sports association of West Siang has expressed their deep concern at the non materialization of Stadium at Aalo even though it is made to appear that Govt. of India has released funds during 2013 under SPA.
Further funds were released during 2014-15 for construction of stadium at Aalo. Though the tender process has already been completed but the construction work is yet to be started whereas the same schemes taken up at Pasighat, Daporijo, and Ziro are going smoothly.
In a representation, it appealed to the West Siang administration to take up the matter with appropriate authority on the status of construction of the Stadium at Aalo. (DIPRO)

AALO, Sept 22: The Department of Geography, SFS College, Aalo has conducted a De Sales Extension Lecture on the topic, 'application of GPS and GIS in geographical studies' recently. Professor and Head Department of Geography, Rajiv Gandhi University Dr S.K Patnaik was the Resource Person.
